Job Description

Job DescriptionE-Discovery Paralegal - Chicago, Illinois

Salary: $100,000 - $120,000 annually
Location: Chicago, Illinois

Join a defense-side legal team where you'll own the end-to-end e-discovery lifecycle supporting complex commercial and construction matters. You'll collaborate closely with attorneys, clients, and vendors to drive efficient, defensible workflows-while leveraging your knowledge of construction law as a differentiator.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the EDRM from preservation to production: implement legal holds, conduct custodian interviews, coordinate collections (email, collaboration suites, mobile/cloud), process/cull data, manage review workflows, and QC productions and privilege logs.
  • Build and optimize technology-enabled reviews using platforms such as Relativity, DISCO, Nuix, and Everlaw; apply analytics (email threading, near-duplication, clustering/TAR) to reduce cost and cycle time.
  • Draft and negotiate ESI protocols; map metadata fields, validate load files, and maintain chain-of-custody and audit trails.
  • Support traditional discovery and motion practice: prepare responses, privilege logs, deposition/exhibit sets, and trial/arbitration binders.
  • Handle court filings in Illinois and federal courts (Odyssey e-file, PACER) and manage associated deadlines and notices.
  • Construction law plus: assist with contract and change-order documentation, lien waivers/mechanics' liens, project record organization, and targeted research on construction-specific issues.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of paralegal experience focused on e-discovery in litigation; defense experience and construction-related matters are a strong plus.
  • Hands-on expertise with leading e-discovery platforms (Relativity, DISCO, Nuix, Everlaw) and comfort with analytics/TAR.
  • Deep knowledge of ESI best practices and the EDRM, including legal holds, collections, processing, review management, productions, and defensible documentation.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills; ability to thrive in fast-moving matters and collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $100,000 - $120,000 annually
  • Benefits: Health, dental, vision, and 401(k)
