Position Details:

Title: Field Service Technician

Location: Kansas City, MO / Springfield, MO (Must reside in or near these areas)

Shift: Primarily day shift, with flexibility to work weekends and off-hours as needed to support customers. 25% home office / 75% in the field.

Compensation: Competitive base pay + OT eligibility

Position Description

As a Field Service Technician, you will provide hands-on technical support to medical professionals, ensuring high performance and reliability of advanced electro-mechanical medical laser equipment. You will work closely with physicians, nurses, and internal field service teams to install, service, maintain, and troubleshoot cutting-edge vision technology used in ophthalmic care.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to physicians, nurses, and medical staff on company products and services.
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex electro-mechanical laser and medical systems.
  • Provide on-site support and technical problem resolution for sales teams, customers, and field service representatives.
  • Ensure installation, training, and service work is completed on time and to standard.
  • Identify and recommend resolutions for product issues and support new product evaluations.
  • Accurately document service activities and promote process improvements.
  • Contribute to the development of technical bulletins, operating procedures, and service guidelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (sales, clinical, service) to enhance field performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in equipment development, maintenance, and process improvement projects.
  • Support customers with short notice travel, including weekend and off-hours coverage when needed.


Requirements:

Education / Certifications:

  • Technical certification in Electronics, Biomedical, Optical, or Mechanical OR
  • Associate’s degree in Electronics Engineering or Technology (required)


Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years of technical field service experience in a regulated industry.
  • Proficient with standard test equipment (digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of servicing principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and manage customer-facing situations professionally.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for prolonged periods, and work in clinical environments.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license; ability to travel on short notice and occasionally by air.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and weekends as required.
