Agape Human Services is seeking compassionate and reliable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide person-centered support to individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or autism in home and community settings. DSPs promote each person’s health, safety, dignity, rights, and meaningful community integration in alignment with Individual Support Plans (ISPs) and all ODP regulatory standards.
Minimum Qualifications / Job Requirements
- High school diploma required
- Experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, and/or co-occurring mental health needs
- 18 years of age or older
- Valid driver’s license, reliable personal vehicle, and ability to transport individuals as assigned
- Must maintain insurable driving record, current insurance, registration, and inspection
- Ability to use email, computer programs, and Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) systems such as Therap
- Ability to read and comprehend written reports and regulations; strong written and professional documentation skills
- Ability to perform basic math
- Effective communication skills for daily Progress Notes
- Must pass pre-employment screenings, including required criminal background checks and employment verification
- Must pass Medicaid fraud exclusion checks prior to hire and maintain eligibility
- Must pass a physical examination and TB test (Mantoux or QuantiFERON-TB Gold) before hire per ODP 6400.151
- Must maintain a current physical every two (2) years with no lapse
- Must obtain CPR/First Aid certification within six months of hire and maintain thereafter
- Must complete ODP 6400.51 Orientation and 6400.52 Annual Training requirements
- Must complete ODP 6100.227 Progress Notes at the end of every shift
- Must accurately report all worked time per agency policy and EVV requirements
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Support individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs) including meal prep, personal care, and household tasks
- Administer medications if certified per ODP 6400.169; complete required documentation
- Utilize positive, least-restrictive strategies to support individuals with social or behavioral challenges
- Provide safe transportation using your personal vehicle for appointments, employment, and community outings
- Manage and document individual-related financial transactions when assigned
- Implement supports listed in the ISP and enter professional, timely daily progress notes in Therap (EVV)
- Participate in ISP development and reviews; provide observations and data
- Promote each person’s health, safety, dignity, rights, independence, and person-centered outcomes
- Teach and support skill development, including behavioral regulation, social skills, hygiene, housekeeping, and money management
- Use community resources to promote integration and natural supports
- Follow emergency and incident management procedures
- Collaborate with families, natural supports, and county/state partners; attend meetings and communicate professionally
- Work independently with minimal on-site supervision across residential, day program, and community settings
Regulatory & Documentation Compliance
- Adhere to DHS/ODP regulations including 6400, 6100, and 2380 as applicable
- Submit all documentation—progress notes, timesheets, medication records—accurately and on time
- Maintain all required credentials and trainings, including Medication Administration certification when applicable
- Uphold Everyday Lives Principles and Positive Approaches, ensuring least-restrictive supports
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Therap or similar EVV/EHR systems
- ODP Medication Administration certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
