As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) working in our Offsite Services Department you will work with, support, and coach clients at their given work locations. You will transport the client(s) to their work location and interact with and coach the clients in their day-to-day routines. This position provides a key service enriching the lives of both the clients and the community. You will provide support to clients who are wanting to work independently within the community.


Merrick, Inc. offers life enrichment, employment, and adult day services to more than 400 clients. We are the largest day program in Ramsey County with a 60-year history of leadership in Person-Centered Planning, Self-Advocacy, and meaningful work options.


This position is Full-Time, Monday Friday, 7:00 am 3:00 pm, with No Weekends and No Evenings!

A typical day as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in our Offsite Services Department

  • Transport client to work location in company vehicle
  • Assist, coach, and train clients in various work tasks
  • Ensure quality standards are being met
  • Support client concerns and needs
  • Complete client attendance and payroll in the data system
  • Transport clients back to Merrick, Inc. at the end of the workday

Direct Support Professional (DSP) Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma.
  • 6 months or more of relevant experience
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to use electronic devices, including databases and internet-based applications.
  • Maintaining a current DOT medical examiner certificate and medical waiver is preferred.

  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug/alcohol test following a conditional job offer.
