Quality Engineer – Metal Fabrication (Direct Hire)
Location: Libertyville, IL (Onsite)
Salary: Up to $85K (up to $90K for exceptional candidates)
Schedule: Full-time, salaried
About the Opportunity
We’re seeking a hands-on Quality Engineer to join a growing metal fabrication manufacturer. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working closely with production teams, solving problems on the shop floor, and taking ownership of quality processes. This is a lean team where you’ll work directly with leadership, with strong opportunities to grow into a Quality Manager role over time.

What You’ll Do

Investigate customer complaints and quality issues directly on the shop floor

Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective/preventive actions

Conduct and document internal audits within an ISO 9001 environment

Support PPAP submissions, FMEAs, and other quality documentation

Collaborate with operators, supervisors, and engineers to resolve quality issues quickly

Utilize measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.) for inspections
What We’re Looking For
✅ 3+ years in a Quality Engineering role within a metal fabrication environment (metal stamping, machining, forming, assembly, or welding)
✅ ISO 9001 experience – internal audits, PPAPs, FMEAs, nonconformance reports
✅ Hands-on problem solver who enjoys both desk work and floor work (50/50 split)
✅ Bachelor’s in Engineering (Associate degree acceptable with 5+ years of relevant experience)
✅ Strong knowledge of basic measurement tools and inspection methods
Nice to Have
⭐ Certified Internal Auditor or External Auditor experience
⭐ Lean Six Sigma certification
⭐ Experience managing calibration programs
