Salary: $85,000–$95,000 DOE
Our client in Washington, DC is seeking a highly experienced Senior Production Engineer to serve as a technical leader within the production engineering department. This “player/coach” role is responsible for delivering high-quality engineering outputs that enhance throughput, improve contribution margin, and support efficient project execution. The Senior Production Engineer will leverage deep experience in Cabinet Vision to develop 3D models, produce accurate fabrication documents, and collaborate closely with Drafting, Project Management, and Production teams to maintain schedules and budgets.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the subject-matter expert within a team of 3–5 engineers responsible for developing 3D models and documentation in Cabinet Vision.
- Act as the primary lead for creating and maintaining new catalog items.
- Mentor and train engineering team members to elevate departmental skills and performance.
- Assist the Engineering Manager with scheduling and prioritizing production work orders.
- Perform regular audits of company engineering standards, workflows, and libraries to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Support the Engineering Manager in building the department’s capability to outsource Cabinet Vision models for submittals or production.
- Partner closely with the Quality Control Coordinator to strengthen communication across departments.
- Process work orders valued at approximately $4M, with higher performance expectations commensurate with a senior-level role.
- Drive contribution margin improvements through efficient and accurate work-order processing.
- Increase the overall output and effectiveness of the engineering department.
Required Qualifications
- 8–10 years of Cabinet Vision experience within the millwork industry.
- Strong working knowledge of material characteristics, machine capabilities, and tooling limitations.
- Proven ability to collaborate with Project Managers and Production Managers to identify challenges and develop solutions.
- Experience with Cabinet Vision submittals and familiarity with tools such as Rhino or SolidWorks is a plus, but not required.
- Solid understanding of AWI standards and specifications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Experience with Innergy is highly beneficial
