The Center for Youth: Started BY YOUTH FOR YOUTH. We partner with youth to realize their full potential, by creating opportunities, removing barriers and promoting social justice.
Overview:
During a crisis, such as an accident, sudden illness, or housing emergency, a caregiver can bring their children to the Crisis Nursery or Owen House. Staff provides free, temporary, professional care to birth to 14 years old.
Schedule: Part time, Monday 4pm-12am, Wednesday and Thursday 4pm-8pm, Saturday 8am-4pm
Responsibilities:
- Recognize, document and take appropriate action in the case of suspected abuse, illness or accident
- Maintain a clean, organized, appealing environment that promotes comfort and security
- Maintain constant surveillance of the surrounding outdoor environment
- Ensure that each child receives nutritious meals, meeting their daily requirement
- Maintain fair and orderly control, with constant supervision of children
- Help children learn through setting limits
- Work with other childcare providers, volunteers and parents to best meet the needs of the children in our care
- Be professional when consulting with parents, provider and family members
- Maintain confidentiality
- Record timely, complete, legible documentation of child's observed behaviors
Required Qualifications:
- High School Degree OR GED OR Equivalent AND 2 years' experience in paid or unpaid childcare
- Must be 18 years of age
Skills:
- Excellent literacy and communication skills
Pay Rate: $19- $12 per hour
