Under general supervision, the Process Engineer supports process optimization and troubleshooting across manufacturing, pilot plant, and capital project environments. This role applies core engineering principles to system modifications, experimental design, and project execution, while interpreting results to resolve operational challenges and improve performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide solutions to technical problems of moderate scope and complexity
- Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures with guidance for unusual issues
- Conduct assignments with clear objectives and limited variables
- Initiate and complete routine technical tasks independently
- Act as technical expert for equipment/systems troubleshooting
- Engage in daily operations to meet schedules or resolve complex issues
- Audit performance and regulatory compliance of moderately complex systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, manufacturing, QA, validation, etc.) to recommend system modifications
- Support project managers in executing design and construction projects within budget and timeline
- Coordinate with consultants, architects, and engineering firms to develop standard design documents
- Evaluate quotes for equipment modifications/installations
- Generate basic project cost estimates and schedules
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Master’s degree in Engineering OR
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 2+ years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in Chemical Engineering
- Experience in biotech/biopharma environments
- Technical support for drug substance manufacturing
- Proficiency in statistical/data analysis
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills
- Familiarity with GLPs, GMPs, and validation protocols
- Ability to operate specialized lab equipment and software
- Demonstrated skills in problem-solving, technical presentations, and change management
