Job DescriptionEquipment Service Technician
Overview:
We are looking for a skilled and dependable Compact Equipment Service Technician to join our team. This role focuses on servicing and repairing compact construction and site-prep machinery such as trenchers, tillers, and other light-to-medium-duty equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong diagnostic skills, a commitment to quality workmanship, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a shop environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely and efficiently perform service and repair tasks while minimizing labor hours and maintaining high-quality standards.
- Accurately complete service orders with all necessary details, including:
- Machine and mileage information
- Failure complaint, cause, and correction
- Time and date of service
- Parts, fluids, and materials used
- Technician name(s)
- Troubleshoot and test equipment to identify issues or confirm repairs.
- Perform preventive maintenance and service work per company quality and efficiency standards.
- Obtain proper authorization before performing any additional repairs.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace and treat company tools and assets with care.
- Follow proper safety procedures and dispose of waste materials appropriately.
- Communicate repair needs and status updates professionally and clearly with supervisors and teammates.
- Operate shop tools and equipment safely, including:
- Hydraulic jacks and pressure gauges
- Torque wrenches
- Diagnostic tools
- Welding equipment
- Pneumatic and hand tools
- Participate in ongoing training, meetings, and review of service bulletins to stay up to date on technical knowledge.
- Be available for overtime as business needs require.
- Notify management of any unsafe or unserviceable shop equipment.
- Represent the company in a professional manner at all times.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Excellent written and technical communication skills
- Strong customer service and team collaboration abilities
- Good time management and attention to detail
- Physical ability to lift up to 70 lbs and stand for long periods
- Solid problem-solving and diagnostic capabilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet insurance underwriting requirements
- Associate degree or equivalent hands-on mechanical experience preferred
- Relevant certifications a plus (but not required)
Note:
This is a full-time, shop-based position and may occasionally require flexibility for extended hours depending on service demand.
