We are looking to hire an experience Field Mechanicto join our team!
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and repair heavy construction equipment.
- Order parts as needed.
- Prioritize repairs based on job requirements.
- Follow the supervisor's directions.
- Travel to jobs in the greater Austin Metro area.
- Work independently or with fellow field mechanics.
- Complete all industry paperwork in a timely manner.
- Conduct daily pre-trip inspections of the mechanic's truck.
- Maintain the mechanic's truck.
- Account for daily parts invoices.
- Work independently to tune engines, align brakes, replace hoses, fan belts, oil seals, and other minor repairs as requested.
- Assist the Yard Manager with moving and cleaning fleet vehicles, heavy equipment, and various miscellaneous mowers, pumps, hand tools, and other related equipment.
- Create and complete work orders correctly and in a timely manner.
- Contribute knowledge and ideas to increase productivity.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- CDL class B or higher (for hauling preferred)
- Current CDL medical examiner's certificate (preferred).
- Clean driving record.
- Basic knowledge of CAT SIS and ET (training available).
- Familiar with OEM standards.
Education and Experience:
- Education: High school diploma or GED (preferred).
- Experience: Minimum 2 plus years of mechanic background (heavy equipment preferred). Basic understanding of safe work practices.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions:
• Work is performed most frequently outdoors in weather conditions that vary from freezing temperatures to heat above 90 degrees, in wet and dry conditions.
• Work may be performed in confined spaces.
• Some exposure to odors, gases, dust and dirt may occur.
• The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud.
• Lifting and carrying 10 up to 60 pounds frequently is required.
• Lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally.
• Reaching and lifting overhead is frequent.
• Standing, crawling, climbing, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling and reaching a majority of the time.
• Work may include manual labor up to and including hand digging.
• Some Saturday work is required. Sundays are rarely needed.
Salary: Based on experience
