Overview:
The Physical Therapy Assistant works under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to help patients recover from injuries, illnesses, and surgeries by carrying out treatment plans designed to restore mobility, relieve pain, and improve physical function and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Physical Therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans to help patients regain movement and manage pain.
- Instruct and guide patients through therapeutic exercises, mobility training, and use of assistive devices.
- Monitor patient progress, document observations, and report changes to the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Provide hands-on support with treatments such as stretching, strengthening, and range-of-motion exercises.
- Educate patients and families on home exercise programs, safety precautions, and lifestyle adjustments to support rehabilitation.
- Maintain treatment areas, equipment, and patient records in accordance with healthcare standards and confidentiality requirements.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree in Physical Therapist Assistant program (accredited).
- Current state licensure or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate approach to patient care.
- Ability to follow detailed treatment plans and maintain accurate documentation.
- Experience in outpatient, inpatient, or rehabilitation settings preferred.
