Job Purpose:

The Lead OEM Wiring Technician provides direction and training per company and industry standards to employees performing OEM wiring duties. The Lead OEM Wiring Technician provides a single point of communication from supervision to the OEM wiring department. The Lead OEM Wiring Technician is responsible for communicating any unresolved issues with management as soon as possible. The Lead OEM Wiring Technician is to ensure company principals are being adhered to by all OEM wiring personnel.


Key Responsibilities:

1) To be the first line of communication between OEM wiring personnel and management.

2) To assist supervisor with the enforcement of OEM department standards.

3) Review all prints for discrepancies and questions prior to wiring the panels.

4) Wire all components on the back panel and enclosure using the supplied drawing(s), while maintaining consistency and quality of repeat panel assemblies.

5) Train and mentor junior technicians on prior wiring techniques, safety standards, and best practices.

6) If the control panel is UL Listed, you must ensure the panel is wired to meet or exceed UL requirements.

7) Make sure all wire sizes and colors are correct per standards.

8) Ensure all wires are labeled at both ends correctly and that there are no wire frays.

9) Make sure all terminations are tight.

10) Log all time spent on each job into the appropriate software database using the traveler supplied with the drawings.

11) All changes to drawings must be marked with red ink, initialed, and dated by “changer” prior to handoff.

12) Fill out all check/inspection sheets supplied with the drawings for the wiring department. Verify prior to handoff to testing department.

13) Clean and maintain work area(s).

14) Identify and report opportunities for continuous improvement within the OEM production line, aiming to enhance performance, quality, and efficiency in batch production.

15) The Lead OEM Wiring Technician also participates in wiring custom control panels when required.


Measurements:

  • Quality control / testing department verifies panels are manufactured to company and industry standards.
  • Supervisor checks quoted hours against actual hours.
  • Overall neatness and consistency.
  • Department utilization and efficiency.

Education and Experience:

· High school diploma or GED preferred.

· 3-4 years of prior experience required in a lead role.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: From $24 - 26 per hour

  • 10-hour shift
  • Overtime pay available for hours worked beyond 40 hours in a week.
