JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct comprehensive preventive maintenance inspections and services on all fleet equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company standards.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electronic systems including electrical, drivetrain, air and brake systems, suspension, and tires.
- Troubleshoot and service computerized powertrain components and vehicle electronics.
- Follow all company safety protocols and regulatory compliance requirements. Maintain fleet tires and ensure all equipment meets performance and safety standards.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and OSHA regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain and utilize personal tools necessary to perform job duties.
- Identify and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED required.
- One-year technical certificate or five years of relevant experience in transportation equipment maintenance and repair; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with transport refrigeration systems preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English; capable of performing basic mathematical calculations and accurately recording data. Bilingual skills are beneficial.
- Ability and willingness to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and various shifts as required.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Must have or be able to obtain a Class A or B CDL permit within 6 months of hire.
- Valid CDL-A or CDL-B and Medical Examiner’s Certificate required after operating a commercial vehicle.
- Must have or be able to obtain the following within 3 months of hire:
- EPA Section 608 Type II Certification
- EPA Section 609 MVAC Certification
- FMCSA Brake Inspector Certification (Part 396.25)
- FMCSA Annual Inspector Certification (Part 396.19)
- Forklift and/or pallet jack certification (provided by company).
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must be able to work in varying indoor and outdoor climates, including hot, cold, and damp environments.
- Regular exposure to mechanical equipment and shop conditions.
