Michigan Sugar Company’s Toledo facility (3332 St. Lawrence Drive, Toledo, OH 43605) needs a PLC and Packaging Equipment Maintenance Technician who blends electrical mastery with mechanical know‑how.
Role overview
In this role, you’ll protect uptime and safety by executing preventive work, jumping on urgent repairs, and partnering closely with production. You’ll troubleshoot controls and power systems, rebuild mechanical components, fabricate parts, and keep precise records so the next shift is always a step ahead.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive/corrective maintenance on conveyors, packaging lines, production machinery, and supporting systems.
- Diagnose and repair electrical systems: motors, control panels, PLCs, and associated devices.
- Service mechanical assets: pumps, gearboxes, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Fabricate/modify components to enhance reliability or replace worn parts.
- Complete welding work (MIG, TIG, or stick) on equipment and structures.
- Use schematics, drawings, and manuals to identify root causes and implement fixes.
- Adhere to GMP and OSHA requirements at all times.
- Partner with production teams to minimize downtime and boost performance.
- Maintain accurate work orders and manage spare-parts inventory.
- Assist with equipment installations and facility upgrades.
Must-haves
- Active Journeyman or Master Electrician license.
- At least 5 years of industrial maintenance experience; packaging/production environment preferred.
- Knowledge of motor control, relay logic, PLC logic, and computer-based motor/process control.
- Proven skills in welding and metal fabrication.
- Ability to work in hot or cold conditions and handle physically demanding tasks.
