Position SummaryThe Lot Technician/Porter plays a crucial role in maintaining the overall appearance, organization, and functionality of the dealership lot and inventory. This dynamic position involves a variety of tasks, from general maintenance and minor repairs to assisting customers and other departments, ensuring a clean, safe, and professional environment. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented team player with a strong work ethic and a valid driver's license.
Key Responsibilities
- Lot Maintenance & Organization:Maintain the cleanliness, order, and visual appeal of the sales lot and entire property. This includes sweeping, picking up trash and debris, emptying garbage cans, and ensuring the grounds (trees and plants) are well-kept.
- Vehicle Movement & Transport:Safely operate and move travel trailers and motor homes of various sizes around the dealership lot, into and out of service bays, and for display purposes. This includes transporting units between the Montrose and Grand Junction locations as needed.
- RV Preparation & Minor Repairs:Ensure all units are in a "sale-ready" condition. Perform minor maintenance and repairs, which may involve checking/fixing issues with plumbing, electrical systems (12V/110V), appliances, and cabinetry, as well as detailing interiors and exteriors.
- Customer Service & Orientations:Conduct walk-throughs and demonstrations with customers on the proper operation of their newly purchased RVs, ensuring a positive customer experience.
- Service & Parts Assistance:Support the service department by cleaning shop bays, maintaining a safe work area, and running errands to pick up parts from local suppliers.
- General Errand Running:Run errands for all departments as needed to support smooth dealership operations.
- Safety & Compliance:Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies, ensuring a safe work environment for customers and coworkers.
Qualifications & Skills
- Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A valid driver's license and a clean, insurable driving record are essential.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and a commitment to superior customer service.
- Preferred:
- Experience operating large vehicles, a yard tractor, or forklift is a plus.
- Basic mechanical aptitude or experience with RV systems (plumbing, electrical, etc.) is preferred.
- Towing experience is highly valued.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs, moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, stooping, and handling materials.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds (or more with assistive devices).
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions for extended periods.
