Job DescriptionSuperior Skilled Trades has a DIRECT HIRE opportunity for a Heavy Equipment Technician / Mechanic with a busy and well-established machine shop. - Direct Hire Opportunity: Heavy Equipment Mechanic
- Location: Baltimore, MD
- Salary: $30-38/hr (based on experience)
What You’ll Do
- Play a vital role in diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of heavy machinery including forklifts, bulldozers, front loaders, and backhoes—to support efficient day-to-day operations
- Perform scheduled maintenance (e.g., oil changes, tire rotations, filter replacements) to ensure peak performance
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical system issues
- Use diagnostic software and tools to evaluate and pinpoint equipment malfunctions
- Rebuild, replace, or upgrade faulty components as needed
- Conduct safety checks to meet operational standards and regulatory compliance
- Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and maintenance logs
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 4 years' experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment in industrial, transportation, port, or logistics environments
- At least 2 years’ experience with diesel engine replacement
- At least 7 years’ of forklift experience
- Must have your own tools
- Strong working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
- Strong time management, multitasking, and teamwork skills
