Aquatic Director

Job Summary

The Aquatic Director at The Lakes Golf and Country Club oversees all aspects of the Club’s year-round aquatic operations, including programming, events, swim and dive teams, and instructional offerings. This position manages the pool staff, maintains a safe and welcoming environment, and upholds the highest standards of service, safety, and hospitality for members and guests. This is a year-round aquatic role.

Job Tasks (Duties)

  1. Plans, develops, and directs instructional programs for members and guests.
  2. Designs, implements, and evaluates a comprehensive aquatic program and event schedule.
  3. Establishes and enforces procedures to ensure a safe, efficient, and enjoyable aquatic environment.
  4. Develops and manages the annual aquatic calendar, including scheduling of programs, teams, and special events.
  5. Oversees swim lessons to ensure instruction meets Club standards and members are developing proper techniques.
  6. Ensures full compliance with all applicable state and local health and safety codes.
  7. Organizes and administers swim meets, private events, and club events.
  8. Administers and enforces all Club pool policies and procedures consistently and fairly.
  9. Oversees seasonal pool openings and closings, including cleaning, power washing, painting, and repair coordination. Supervises installation and removal of the seasonal pool bubble, which is open in the winter months, and ensures compliance with all licensing and inspection requirements year-round.
  10. Coordinates pool maintenance, repairs, and cleaning with vendors and internal departments. Conducts routine inspections, chemical tests, and equipment maintenance to ensure optimal safety and performance.
  11. Writes and edits all pool-related communications for the Club newsletter and other platforms (including photos when appropriate).
  12. Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises all pool employees, ensuring staff maintain cleanliness and safety across bathrooms, dining areas, and pool and fitness grounds. Recommends Assistant Pool Manager candidates to the Club Manager for hire.
  13. Maintains staff certifications (Lifeguard, WSI, CPR/AED, CPO), including renewals and recertifications.
  14. Provides regular staff evaluations and makes recommendations regarding assignments, promotions, disciplinary actions, and other personnel matters.
  15. Prepares reports, records, and correspondence as required for internal use and external organizations.
  16. Manages inventory and sales of pool office supplies.
  17. Orders, stocks, and tracks all pool chemicals, uniforms, first aid supplies, and office materials. Oversees deliveries and verifies accuracy.
  18. Replaces damaged or outdated supplies and equipment as needed.
  19. Submits all pool-related charge tickets to the Accounting Department.
  20. Ensures that members and guests receive courteous, prompt, and professional service for all aquatic needs.
  21. Promotes and markets aquatic programs and facilities to members and guests.
  22. Coordinates use of the Aquatic Facility with other departments and serves as liaison among members, Catering, Food & Beverage, and Club Management.
  23. Performs all other duties as assigned by the Club Manager.

Reports to COO

  • Prepares and presents reports for the Board and PCCAL meetings, including departmental updates and recommendations.
  • Submits annual salary recommendations for swim and dive team coaches.
  • Develops and presents the annual pool budget.

Supervises

  • Assistant Pool Managers
  • All Pool Personnel

Key Qualifications

  1. Certified Pool Operator (CPO)
  2. Lifeguard Instructor (LGI), Water Safety Instructor (WSI), and CPR/AED certified
  3. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  4. Proven experience in aquatic facility management, staff supervision, and budgeting
  5. Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Physical Education, or a related field preferred
