Frederick Derr & Company, Inc., an employee-owned, well-established Sarasota, FL based contractor specializing in site construction including excavation, utility, storm, concrete, and roadway installation, is looking for an experienced full-time Estimator/Project Manager. This is a great opportunity to get into an employee-owned company at a position that has an excellent opportunity for advancement.
Qualified candidates should possess 4 - 5 prior year' experience estimating and managing civil construction projects ranging from $200K-$15M.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Construction document review, perform accurate takeoffs for civil construction related quantities
- Perform site visits to determine existing conditions and proposed scope of work
- Submit requests for information to clarify existing conditions and proposed improvements, submission to responsible design professional in a timely manner
- Provide value engineering options to optimize successful contract award opportunities
- Prepare and solicit bid requests for subcontractors
- Review quotes for scope compliance
- Establish, develop and maintain owner relationships
- Perform construction document reviews
- Prepare and execute all contracts, change orders and billings
- Develop and maintain material supplier and subcontractor relationships
- Analyze and evaluate all cost data in order to generate monthly work in progress project projections
- Negotiate and estimate all project changes and adjust contracts accordingly
- Attend pre-construction meetings to gather all pertinent data
- Off input and support for project phasing and resource scheduling
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
- 4-5 + years' experience in Civil Construction Estimating and Management involving earthwork, pipe, concrete and roadwork
- Experience with HCSS HeavyBid, HeavyJob and AGTEK is preferred
