Position: Youth Basketball Referee
Organization: JCC Indianapolis
Season Dates: November 16, 2025 -March 1, 2026
Pay: $15 per game
Schedule: Sundays from 1:00–2:00 p.m.
Position Overview
The JCC Indianapolis Youth Sports Department is looking for responsible, enthusiastic people to serve as referees for our Youth Basketball League. This is a great opportunity to earn money, gain leadership experience, and stay involved in the JCC community while helping young athletes learn the game in a positive and fun environment.
Responsibilities
- Officiate youth basketball games (grades K–5) in accordance with JCC rules and age-appropriate guidelines.
- Maintain a safe, fair, and enjoyable environment for all players, coaches, and spectators.
- Demonstrate professionalism, respect, and strong communication at all times.
- Assist with setup and cleanup before and after games as needed.
- Work cooperatively with JCC staff and volunteer coaches to ensure games run smoothly and on schedule.
Requirements
- Must be at least 14 years old.
- Basic knowledge of basketball rules and sportsmanship expectations.
- Punctual, reliable, and comfortable working with young children.
- Must be available Sundays from 1–2 p.m. through March 1.
- Prior officiating or coaching experience is a plus but not required, training will be provided.
