Job Description

The Service Advisor will:

  • Assist customers at the counter and on the phone with technical questions while keeping in mind the other priorities of the department
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships, always communicating with all departments in order to serve the customers better, and to find ways to gain more of each customer’s business.
  • Write, manage and audit repair orders to verify accuracy and detailed information on repairs completed
  • Update technician time logs and provide detailed reports to management about the service department’s productivity and progress toward dealership goals
  • Be aware of upcoming lulls in shop work and make customer calls to try and build up more business
  • Greet the customer and ascertain problems and service needs
  • Discuss options and extra services with the customer
  • Review the flow of work through the Service Department and provide accurate estimates for completion time
  • Provide the customer with detailed written estimates of the cost of needed repairs or services
  • Keep the customer informed throughout the service process of any changes in cost or time or recommendations for other necessary repairs or services – always considering the customer’s needs for timely service
  • Resolve customer complaints
  • Work with the manufacturer to resolve ongoing or serious problems for the customer
  • Maintain the dealerships service certification with each of its represented manufacturers
  • Work with the service departments at the dealership’s other locations to verify consistency in service delivery across the entire organization
