Job Summary
The Medical Assistant provides both clinical and administrative support in a fast-paced medical office environment. This role is responsible for assisting healthcare providers with patient care, performing routine clinical tasks, and ensuring smooth office operations. The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering excellent patient service.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome patients and assist with check-in procedures.
- Obtain and document patient vital signs, medical history, and other relevant information.
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during procedures.
- Administer medications and injections as directed by the physician (within scope of practice).
- Collect and process laboratory specimens; perform basic tests as required.
- Schedule appointments, verify insurance, and manage patient records in the EHR system.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment, following infection control protocols.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all regulatory standards.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
- CPR/BLS certification required.
- New grads welcome. One year of experience in a medical office or clinical setting preferred.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Clinical Skills: Ability to take vital signs, administer medications, and assist with procedures.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and basic computer applications.
- Knowledge: Understanding of medical terminology, HIPAA regulations, and infection control practices.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact professionally with patients and staff.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to multitask, prioritize, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
