Position Summary:
Corby Energy Services is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Hydro-Excavation Operator to join our team based out of our Detroit, Michigan location. The ideal candidate will operate hydro-excavation (hydrovac) trucks and related equipment to safely remove soil and expose underground utilities and structures. This position is represented by Operating Engineers Local 324 and follows union wage rates and benefits.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate hydro-excavation trucks and associated equipment in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Perform daylighting, trenching, potholing, and utility locating using hydro-excavation methods.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness, safety, and proper function, conducting daily inspections and reporting issues.
  • Safely load and offload materials and debris at designated sites.
  • Follow local, state, and federal safety regulations as well as Corby’s safety procedures and policies.
  • Work closely with crew members, foremen, and project management to ensure project specifications and timelines are met.
  • Complete all required documentation including job logs, inspection reports, and safety checklists.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Must be an active or eligible member of Operating Engineers Local 324.
  • Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with tanker endorsement preferred.
  • Clean driving record and ability to pass DOT drug and alcohol screening.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience operating hydro-excavation or vacuum truck equipment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of underground utility construction and safety procedures (Confined Space, Traffic Control, etc.).
  • Ability to work in varying outdoor conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong commitment to teamwork and jobsite safety.
