Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately compound sterile preparations, including IV admixtures, sterile eyedrops, and parenteral products in compliance with State Rules, USP Guidelines, and company policy and procedures.
  • Maintain aseptic technique within the cleanroom and adhere to all USP <797> and USP <800> requirements.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning and environmental monitoring of compounding areas.
  • Assist in quality control activities, including certificate of analysis, beyond-use dating, and compounded preparation uniformity verification.
  • Label, package, and prepare compounded medications for verification by the pharmacist.
  • Conduct inventory checks for sterile compounding supplies and ingredients, ensuring proper storage and documentation.
  • Assist in quality assurance activities including environmental monitoring and documentation, equipment calibration, and garbing practices.
  • Participate in regular competency assessments and ongoing training related to sterile compounding.
  • Support overall pharmacy operations as needed, maintaining a collaborative and safety-focused environment

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Active Pharmacy Technician license in Texas required; PTCB certification preferred.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of sterile compounding experience in a hospital or community pharmacy setting.
  • Strong understanding of USP <797> and USP <800> regulations and aseptic technique.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and adherence to safety standards.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE for sterile compounding and handle hazardous drugs when necessary.
