We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Truck and Auto Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in both light-duty vehicle and heavy-duty truck repair, excellent diagnostic skills, and the ability to work effectively with modern computerized systems and software.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnosis and Troubleshooting: Perform comprehensive diagnostic tests on various vehicle systems (engines, transmissions, electrical, hydraulic, and air brake systems) for both trucks and automobiles, utilizing computerized diagnostic equipment and specialized software.
- Repair and Maintenance: Execute a full range of repairs, including engine overhauls, transmission work, and replacement of mechanical and electrical components on gas and diesel vehicles.
- Routine Service: Perform all levels of preventative maintenance, such as oil changes, filter replacements, tire rotations, fluid checks, and brake system inspections to meet safety and manufacturer standards.
- System Expertise: Repair and service complex systems like fuel injection, HVAC, anti-lock brakes, steering, and suspension components.
- Documentation: Accurately document all repairs, maintenance performed, parts used, and labor hours in our fleet maintenance management software system.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere strictly to all safety and environmental regulations, particularly when handling hazardous materials or high-voltage systems.
- Communication: Clearly communicate vehicle issues, repair plans, and service recommendations to service advisors and team members.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience: Proven experience (4 years preferred) as an Auto Mechanic, Truck Mechanic, or a similar role.
- Technical Knowledge: Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of both light-duty vehicles and heavy-duty diesel trucks.
- Diagnostic Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency with advanced diagnostic tools and the ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Software: Ability to learn and effectively use various computer programs, including shop management and fleet maintenance software.
- Certifications (Preferred): ASE Certifications (especially in Diesel Engines, Brakes, Electrical/Electronic Systems, and HVAC) are highly desirable.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), stand for extended periods, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and physical stamina.
- Problem-Solving: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to efficiently diagnose and resolve complex issues.
- Licensing: Valid driver's license required; a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is a significant plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Rate: $25.00 - $36.00 per hour (based on experience and certifications)
