A-Line Staffing is now hiring a Tech I Prior Authorization Pharmacy Technician. This role is fully remote and ideal for West Coast candidates who can work late-shift hours. The Tech I Prior Auth handles inbound calls from providers, pharmacies, and members, providing professional and courteous phone assistance through the criteria-based prior authorization process. Techs will maintain complete, timely, and accurate documentation and transfer all clinical or escalated questions to the pharmacist team.
The Tech I will also assist with:
- Outbound calls
- Reviewing and processing Prior Auths received via fax or ePA
- Monitoring and responding to department mailboxes
- Additional duties assigned by leadership
Pharmacy Technician – Prior Authorization
Fully Remote | West Coast Candidates Preferred
Schedule: Mon–Fri, 11:00am–11:00pm CST (8.5-hr shifts w/ 30-min lunch)
Training: Mon–Fri, 10:00am–6:30pm CST for approximately 5 weeks
Responsibilities:
- Handle high-volume inbound calls related to prior authorization requests
- Provide excellent and professional customer service at all times
- Complete accurate documentation for all reviews
- Follow established criteria and workflows for prior authorization processing
- Transfer escalated or clinical calls to pharmacist team
- Support outbound call tasks and PA review work via fax/ePA
- Maintain productivity and quality standards
- Use multiple systems and tools simultaneously
- Work independently in a remote environment with no distractions
MUST HAVE:
- Minimum 2 years of high-volume call center experience
- Healthcare, PBM, or prior authorization–related experience preferred
- Familiarity with medical terminology and coding
- Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, multiple systems navigation)
- Excellent customer service skills (written & verbal)
- Must understand they cannot be the primary caregiver for anyone during work hours
- Active Pharmacy Technician License with no restrictions OR National Certification (per state regulations)
- Ability to work scheduled late-shift hours Mon–Fri
- Verifiable High School Diploma or GED
Experience Requirements:
- At least 1 year as a pharmacy technician in an administrative support function
- Minimum 2 years customer service experience in a high-volume call center
- Prior experience in healthcare, social services, pharmacy support, or related roles strongly preferred
Education/Licensure:
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Active, unrestricted Pharmacy Technician License OR National Certification
- Must be eligible for state registration/certification per regulations
