Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Speech Language Pathologist Assistant to join our dynamic educational teams. In this vital role, you will provide expert speech therapy services to children under the supervision of an SLP within a school setting. our expertise will help improve communication skills, foster social interaction, and support overall developmental progress. Duties
- Assess and diagnose speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders in children of diverse ages and backgrounds.
- Develop individualized treatment plans aligned with each child's needs, goals, and IEP (Individualized Education Program) requirements.
- Deliver engaging speech therapy sessions utilizing evidence-based techniques tailored for pediatric populations.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, parents, caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and consistent support across settings.
- Monitor progress regularly, adjusting therapy approaches as needed to maximize outcomes.
- Educate families and caregivers on strategies to support communication development at home and in daily activities.
- Maintain detailed documentation of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and compliance with all regulatory standards.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and training sessions to stay current with best practices in pediatrics and speech therapy.
- Assist with early intervention initiatives by providing services to infants and toddlers at risk for communication delays.
- Support school-based programs by implementing therapy plans within classroom environments and contributing to IEP meetings.
Experience
- Proven experience working with children in clinical or educational settings, including schools or pediatric clinics.
- Familiarity with acute care environments is advantageous but not required; experience managing children with complex medical needs is preferred.
- Prior involvement in early intervention programs or school-based speech therapy enhances candidacy.
- Strong knowledge of physiology related to speech production, anatomy relevant to the vocal apparatus, and medical terminology used within healthcare settings.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students who have diverse communication challenges related to pediatrics or developmental delays.
- Understanding of IEP processes and experience developing tailored therapy goals for students with special needs.
