The Construction Design Assistant will assist the Company in reaching goals and objectives related to pre-construction/conceptual design and drafting. They will work directly with the President, Construction Design Consultant, Senior Project Manager, and Project Managers as well as Owners, Architects and other stakeholders to ensure that preliminary drawings, schematic plans, conceptual renderings and presentation materials are completed in a timely and highly detailed manner.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist in the pre-contract design and sales process on all projects.
• Assist in pre-construction and design phase meetings with owners and design teams.
• Assist in the preparation of construction sales presentation materials.
• Assist the Construction Design Consultant in the creation and revision of schematic site plans and floor plans.
• Assist the Construction Design Consultant in the creation and revision of conceptual exterior and interior renderings in Sketchup.
• Clearly communicate to owners the reasoning behind design decisions.
• Work with Design Consultant and Senior Estimator to ensure preliminary drawings are in line with budget.
• Assist in the preparation of Client contracts and Solution Letters as needed.
• Work with the Construction Design Consultant, Senior Project Manager, Owners, Design team, and other stakeholders to develop, update and maintain design schedule.
• Keep Upper Management updated on progress of all projects.
• Keep all bid job files updated and archived as required.
• Capitalize on daily opportunities for excellence.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
• Minimum of 2 years drafting/design experience.
• Strong knowledge of Sketchup Pro. (Enscape plug-in experience preferred.)
• Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, Photoshop, Outlook
• Autocad and/or Revit experience a plus but not required.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Communicate effectively in person and through technology including MS Office software, email and cell phone.
• Analytical with the ability to examine issues from multiple viewpoints
• Proactive—looks for problems that could impede progress and offers solutions.
• Ability to work well with diverse personalities.
• Dress and act in a professional manner at all times.
• Ability to speak and write the English language fluently.
• Pass a background check.
• Pass a physical/drug test.
• Have a good driving record.
