The Whitney Academy, Inc. is a residential treatment center. We serve adolescent boys, ages 10 to 22 who present with cognitive delays and a spectrum of behavioral problems. These problems include psychiatric diagnoses, sexualized and trauma reactive behaviors.
Our mission is to provide education, residential and treatment environments that are as “normal” as possible given the needs of the students we serve. As a Special Education Teacher, you will provide classroom instruction and lesson planning to students performing below grade level in a six-student, self-contained classroom. Requirements:
Required Education and Professional Experience:
<ul>
<li>Master’s Degree or appropriate professional experience in a related field.</li>
<li>Teaching/Instructional experience.</li>
</ul>
Preferred Education and Experience:
<ul>
<li>Ph.D. or ABD in a related field</li>
<li>Documented background in the related instructional area.</li>
<li>Two years of college-level teaching experience.</li>
</ul>

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED: Knowledge of operation and use of various office equipment, including, but not limited to: personal computer, including spreadsheet and word processing software, integrated database software, fax machines, copier, telephone, scanner, and printers. A valid driver’s license may be required.
