Job Description

Dover Precision Components is hiring an Operations Manager for our Waukesha Bearings brand. Waukesha Bearings is a leading designer and manufacturer of hydrodynamic fluid film bearings, active magnetic bearing systems and seals for high-performing turbomachinery and rotating equipment in oil & gas, power generation, marine, military, and industrial markets. Our forward-thinking team is committed to leading the markets we serve through superior technology and operational excellence. This role is based at our manufacturing facility in Antigo. Wisconsin. Due to our government client, US Citizenship is required.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

In this role, you will provide leadership and ensure a safe and collaborative work environment, driving safety compliance, quality system adherence, productivity, and meeting customer requirements. The Operations Manager is also responsible to continuously improve processes through CI activities, lean initiatives, employee involvement, and communication. The Operations Manager must understand and monitor the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and make necessary adjustments for success. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Assumes overall responsibility for safety, productivity performance, delivery performance, financial profit and loss, compliance adherence and production quality.
  • Ensures the safe operation of the facility and the safety of Dover employees.
  • Manages shift supervisors and leads production team for a lean manufacturing plant; Oversees daily Production, Planning, Purchasing, Quality, Customer Service and Manufacturing Engineering activities relating to the operation of the facility.
  • Coordinates resources to satisfy both internal and external customers; to deliver superior products and quality service in a fast-paced environment that meets or exceeds the customer's expectations.
  • Works closely with Supply Chain team to ensure effective planning of production to meet customer demands.
  • Supports the implementation and training of continuous improvement principles within the shop environment; Champions process improvement and lean manufacturing activities; oversees the implementation of best practices across manufacturing operations.
  • Promotes the utilization of statistical and process visual measurements to manage the operation and deliver customer satisfaction and world class quality.
  • Complies with all Federal, State, and Local labor laws, environmental regulations, OSHA compliance and City ordinances.
  • Works with the Plant Manager to make operational adjustments as necessary by reviewing the P&L Statements, Sales Reports, and daily reports to ensure continued growth in productivity/efficiency.
  • Assists the Plant Manager in developing & executing accurate staffing, operating expense, and capital expenditure budgets.
  • Directs, coaches, and develops managers; sets goals in training and development, performance, and career planning by leveraging strong problem-solving and conflict resolution capabilities.
  • Works effectively in a matrix organizational structure.
  • Maintains productive relationships with external customers including marketing/ commercial groups, contractors, engineering, vendors, government agencies, and regulatory agencies.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in engineering, business, operations, or related field preferred. Related work experience in manufacturing leadership may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 3+ years manufacturing supervisory experience to include attracting, developing and retaining talent; motivating and inspiring; and ensuring safety, quality, and results driven performance.
  • Collaborative and cross-functional relationship management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Background in Continuous Improvement, preferably within a Lean Manufacturing facility.
  • ERP system experience, such as Syteline.
  • Our Antigo facility is under ITAR/UNNPI regulations, must be a US Citizen.

  • Bachelor's and/or master's degree in business, engineering, or related field.
  • Industry experience in bearings or precision components preferred.
  • Lean manufacturing background and Six Sigma training/ certification.
  • Prior ownership of plant P&L preferred.
  • Experience with ISO or TS quality standards.
