Summary/Objective

The Field Engineer assists Project Managers and field operations with project constructability including but not limited to: attendance at daily project sites; collection of daily project activities in D365; perform constructability reviews, detailing calculations; generation of field change requests; generation and processing of request for information (RFIs); and generation and processing of nonconformance reports. Company-wide responsibilities include statements of work, procurement support, and ongoing training.

Essential Functions

1. Ensure accurate daily production and man hours of subcontractors/workforce are recorded.

2. Provide a daily report to PM detailing site activities performed.

3. Provide a weekly report detailing project progression (percent complete) and updates to PM.

4. Provide a compiled monthly report detailing project progression and updates to PM.

5. Complete and submit both permit application packages and permit closeout packages where required.

6. Coordinate with site team, subcontractors, and PM for both RFIs and project submittals.

7. Perform QA/QC inspections for civil and environmental work.

8. Participate in daily JHA meetings held with workforce.

9. Take site photos of work performed and of equipment delivered prior to and subsequent to installation.

10. Coordinate with superintendent and site foreman to perform weekly schedule update.

11. Provide site team with most up-to-date drawing sets and ensure both site team and subcontractors receive revisions as they are issued.

12. Prepare scope of work and request quotes for project services.

13. Support in preparation of notices of potential impact.

14. Support in preparation of nonconformance reports.

15. Prepare and issue transmittals and submittals.

16. Perform punch walks with the client and prepare punch lists.

17. Collect backup documentation for all incoming and outgoing change orders.

18. Review and understand contract and subcontract documentation.

19. Prepare meeting minutes for all external meetings and as needed for internal meetings.

20. Prepare and update action item lists weekly.

21. Be familiar with monthly project cost data including but not limited to cost-to-date (CTD), committed cost, cost to complete (CTC) and estimated cost at completion (ECAC).

22. Track bills of delivery as equipment and materials are inspected at the time of delivery.

Field Engineering Activities

Field engineering activities are those required of the field engineer in the performance of their project duties. In addition to those outlined above, field engineer activities shall include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Field safety oversite

2. Work to resolve problems involving field conditions, safe accessibility, and capabilities of involved field staff

3. Assist project management with field related administrative operations

4. Preparation of as-built record drawings

5. Inspection of delivered materials and equipment to verify conformance with project drawings and specifications

6. Performance of inspections and evaluations required for safe and environmentally compliant operations

7. Additional responsibilities will be defined in the relevant process procedure

Work Environment
This position is primarily an field position but will require occasional presence in the office. While performing the duties of this job in the field, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 40+ hours per week.

Travel
Travel to job site locations is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or equivalent work experience is preferred. Prior internship in a related field is preferred but not required. Strong communication skills are required. The candidate must have the ability to work independently and in a team environment. Must be detail oriented and have excellent customer service skills. Microsoft Office proficiency.

Preferred Education and Experience
D365 experience is preferred.
