Field Service Technician
A leading manufacturer of automatic lens edging machinery is seeking a highly motivated Field Service Technician to join its team. Reporting to the Technical Department Manager and Customer Service Operations General Manager, this role involves hands-on technical work, customer interaction, and extensive travel.
Responsibilities:
- Perform machine installations, repairs, and preventive maintenance at customer sites.
- Provide equipment operation training and demonstrations at the Chicago office.
- Travel extensively (approximately 70% of the time) throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and occasionally Europe for service and training.
- Support customers remotely from the Chicago office through help desk activities.
- Identify, troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve equipment issues.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and follow service management best practices.
- Attend trade shows and exhibitions as needed to provide technical support for machine demonstrations.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; 4–6 years of relevant work experience.
- ASE certification and/or experience with ISO 9001 standards preferred.
- Strong electro-mechanical skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and technical support teams.
- Solid understanding of modern CNC machinery and related components.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows-based systems.
