About the Role
Field Engineer
The Field Engineer will help oversee site activities, ensuring compliance with construction standards, quality, and safety. In this role, you will assist our project managers and superintendents in coordinating efforts and managing site operations.
Position Logistics
- Work Environment: On-Site
- Work Location: Fargo, ND area job sites
- Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday | 7 am - 5 pm, Friday's 8 am - 12 pm or as needed.
- Work Type: Full Time, Non-exempt
Position Responsibilities
Project Planning & Coordination
- Participate in plan reviews and assist with site logistics, phasing, and field kick-off preparation.
- Ensure readiness of preconstruction elements including codes, schedules, safety requirements, and documentation.
- Communicate project schedules and maintain the 3-week lookahead to support proactive planning.
Field Execution & Oversight
- Monitor on-site construction activities for compliance with design specifications, codes, and safety standards.
- Support field operations and assist with subcontractor coordination, including prep meetings, QA/QC, and delivery management.
- Contribute to punch list development and completion, as well as final close-out documentation.
Documentation & Compliance
- Review drawings and specifications; manage electronic documents and uploads.
- Coordinate RFIs, daily reports, project photos, and maintain SWPPP, HAZCOM, signage, hot work permits, and safety plans.
Cost & Resource Management
- Assist with material procurement, purchasing, cost coding, and reporting of cost history data.
Safety & Relationship Building
- Ensure jobsite safety compliance, including signage, emergency contacts, and required supplies.
- Foster collaborative relationships with craft professionals, subcontractors, owners, and design teams.
General Responsibilities
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Applies a thorough and detail-oriented approach to reviewing plans, documentation, and field activities to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks and shifting priorities within time-sensitive environments, maintaining focus and productivity under pressure.
- Exhibits a self-starting mindset with the ability to work independently, take ownership of responsibilities, and proactively seek solutions with minimal supervision.
- Possesses strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), and demonstrates a willingness to learn and adapt to construction management software and digital tools.
Qualifications
- An associate’s degree in construction management or a related field and a minimum of two (2) years of construction experience is required. In lieu of a degree, four (4) years of relevant construction experience is required.
- Valid Driver’s License required
- Forklift Certification, CPR/First Aid Certification & OSHA 10 preferred

- Position involves standing and walking for extended periods of time while working at the jobsite and occasional lifting of heavy objects and sitting at computers. Employees must be able to communicate effectively in a typical construction site environment with a standard level of noise. Occasional standing, bending, walking, and lifting are also required.
Our salary ranges are established based on a combination of market data, internal equity, and the unique characteristics of our organization such as our size, revenue, and industry. Within the range, individual pay is determined by multiple factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
